{The actual footage}

When NBC New York reached out to feature moi on the Today Show alongside Natalie Morales and fellow Miami Fashion Bloggers Annie Vazquez and Ginger Harris, I mentally performed a triple aerial cartwheel à la Gabby Douglas AND STUCK IT. In real life, I  awkwardly danced à la Napoleon Dynamite. In other words, I went b-a-n-a-n-a-s. In all honesty, the nationally televised opportunity gave me a profound sense of accomplishment, pride and confidence. It felt like all this work I put into my passion project finally paid off, if you know what I mean. It also reinforced the notion that I must be doing something right!

Annie, Ginger and I unanimously agreed to feature Miami-based designers because being locavores, we collectively love to shine light on our local talents and artists. We were asked to pull three looks — beach, day and evening — and I went for the evening look  because it’s the aesthetic I’m most naturally drawn to.

I chose an Alexis chiffon showstopper paired with a neon pink python Hunting Season clutch, Lola James Jewels and an Orianne Collins cocktail ring for my model Julia Ford-Carther. And Julia looked AMAZE if I do say so myself.

Just before taping the live segment (read: scary!) I was extremely nervous and my heart was beating outside of my chest. Here I was on set with guests such as Paula Deen, Flo Rida, Giada De Laurentis — like, little ol’ me! — the daughter of  Greek immigrants from Jersey! But just before we went on air, I took a slow, deep breath and told myself, Do Miami proud and have FUN. And I sure did.

The response from the Miami Fashion Blogger feature has been overwhelming and I thank you, loyal readers, for peeping my page.

Simply said, Today was the greatest.
