And The Award to Best In Shirt Goes To…

You can thank my 6-year-old photo daughter for the photo finagling on this gem. Yes, Ava unearthed some app armed with a Van Gough effect and she was all like, “Mama! Let me play with your photos!” So here you have it. And I dig it to be honest — it has a decidedly post-Impressionist feel to it. I’d like to think Monet would be proud, too. Who am I kidding? It’s lacking lilies, Parisian women in oversized white hats and, well, a real paintbrush to canvas. Scratch that, homeboy would hate it.

And here I go off on a tangent again — shocker! Let’s discuss this look du jour, shall we? I’m a huge proponent of mixing high and low designers and this look is a testament to that. Here’s a mishmash of Tory Burch, Chanel, J Brand, American Apparel and a flock of faux hair from a Brazilian babe we shall now call Lola.

Can we please discuss American Apparel T-shirts? Let’s. From Helmut Lang to Feel the Piece to Splendid to James Perse, I’ve tried ’em all and American Apparel still gets the prize for Best in Shirt. They feel amazing to the touch, get better with age, fit loosely and can withstand the test of time in my abusive washer and dryer. And did I mention they’re dirt cheap? I also love their tank tops paired with a bright-colored sports bra for working out.

Who’s your go-to T-shirt brand? I want to know so I can check it out.

I love American Apparel t-shirts but if you are going on the bargain side Target t-shirts have a good run for the money.

The Vince boat neck in long and short sleeve… They wash amazing, never fade and seldom get holes in them. They may be on the expensive side but I have had a few for over five years.

I’ve always been a fan of Michael Stars.. I love the length and also that they make a bunch that are 100% cotton.
