Sweet Little Things

Eliana & Mathias Salmon

{Eliana and Mathias Salmon}

One of the greatest gifts blogging has brought me is the ability to help others. Here and there, I’m asked to chair and host philanthropic events and the sensation of helping my local community is beyond. Like, better than the delectable sensation of biting into a creamy Cadbury egg (and we all know how much I love low-brow CVS pharmacy-bought candy).

Pictured here are two family friends, Eliana and Mathias Salmon. I attended Eliana’s bat mitzvah in beautiful Israel years ago and, today, I am floored by how she’s grown into such a beautiful, driven, lovely, caring and bright young woman. Her younger brother, Mathias, is equally charming — sweet, soft spoken, athletic and always wearing a smile — and has lived with Type 1 diabetes for as long as I’ve known him as a youth. Personally, I can relate to the Salmons because my bother-in-law Esteban also happens have Type 1 diabetes and it’s caused countless scares and sleepless nights for our family.

Recently, Eliana reached out for me to share her philanthropic endeavor alongside her brother, Sweet Siblings, I was all like, “Duh, of course! You two are inspiration for those with Type 1!” In short, the crux of Sweet Siblings is to help people in the community which were recently diagnosed with diabetes and how to adjust to the new lifestyle by sharing tips and hints that we’ve gathered over the years of living with diabetes.

With this said, if you know someone living with Type 1 diabetes, be sure to check out their honorable collective here

So sweet indeed.
